Title of the PhD Project: Research activity on the design and application of HiGee technologies and processes for intensified separations

This PhD project focuses on the development and application of HiGee (high-gravity) technologies to intensify separation processes. HiGee systems, such as Rotating Packed Beds (RPB), will be investigated to understand how centrifugal fields influence hydrodynamics, phase interactions, and mass and heat transfer under different operating conditions. The research combines experimental studies with modelling to predict system performance and optimize design. In parallel, the project explores industrially relevant applications, including CO2 capture, aiming to assess how HiGee technologies can be implemented in practice to achieve more efficient, compact, and flexible systems compared to conventional units.
