Abstract of the PhD project

Research focused on the study of complex fluid dynamics phenomena, with special emphasis on the aerodynamics of square and rectangular cylinders, investigated under both steady and unsteady inflow conditions.

Activities include:

  • Wind-tunnel experiments for aerodynamic characterization and validation of numerical simulations
  • High-fidelity numerical simulations (LES) to study vortex generation, evolution, and interaction in complex configurations
  • Analysis of aerodynamic forces, pressure fields, and velocity distributions, with particular focus on the impact of inflow unsteadiness and body geometry

Research carried out at the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering, University of Pisa.
