Title of the PhD Project: Development of new equipment according to the principles of process intensification
Supervisor(s): Elisabetta Brunazzi
Abstract of the PhD project:
This Ph.D. project focuses on the design and development of innovative equipment guided by the principles of Process Intensification (PI). Process Intensification offers further advances in chemical engineering by emphasizing process improvement through smaller, more efficient and integrated equipment. The objective of this research is to advance the understanding and application of PI principles in the design of novel equipment applicable to various industrial processes. The methodology involves a multidisciplinary approach that integrates principles from chemical engineering, materials science, and mechanical engineering. The expected outcomes of this research include the development of novel equipment designs that offer significant improvements in process efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and improved sustainability. In addition, the knowledge gained from this study will contribute to the advancement of process intensification as a novel approach in chemical engineering, with implications for various industrial sectors.
