The Aerospace Curriculum of the PhD Programme in Industrial Engineering aims to train young researchers with a high scientific profile in the fields of fluid dynamics (Laboratori DICI | Galleria del Vento, Laboratori DICI | CFD), of flight mechanics (Laboratori DICI | Meccanica del Volo), aerospace structures and materials (Laboratori DICI | Strutture e Materiali Aerospaziali), aerospace propulsion (Laboratori DICI | Propulsione Elettrica), of aeronautical systems (Laboratori DICI | Fly-By-Wire) and space systems (Laboratori DICI | SpaceLab). The research activities developed for each of these topics in the theoretical, computational and experimental fields also find fruitful applications in sectors other than aerospace, such as environmental engineering (through support for territorial monitoring and Earth observation activities), biomedical engineering (through support for the development of innovative diagnostic and prognostic techniques) and energy engineering (through support for the exploitation of renewable sources, such as wind power, or the development of technologies with a lower ecological footprint, such as power systems for electric mobility).

Thanks to its inherently interdisciplinary nature, the PhD programme in Aerospace Engineering allows future graduates to gain highly specialised skills and develop organisational expertise for conducting research in other areas of industrial and practical interest, using a cross-disciplinary approach.
